AB 60 Launch Draws Large Turnout at DMV Offices

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today released preliminary driver license processing statistics showing early successimplementing Assembly Bill 60 (AB 60)—the new law requiring DMV to issue a driver license to applicants who can prove identity and California residence and meet all other licensing requirements, such as passing the driver license knowledge and behind-the-wheel driving exams.

“We have spent the past year working together with our partners and stakeholders in the implementation of AB to ensure we serve the needs of our customers,” said DMV Director Jean Shiomoto. “We appreciate the hard work of all DMV employees who work diligently to ensure this department continues to provide excellent customer service for all California.”
