Melanie Perron, Deputy Secretary, Legislation Melanie has served as the Deputy Secretary for Legislation for the California State Transportation Agency. Prior to this appointment, Melanie was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. as the Assistant Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for the California Department of Transportation in 2013. Melanie’s previously served as the legislative manager at the California Department of Conservation from 2010 to 2013 where she worked on issues pertaining to oil and gas extraction, mining, and farmland protection; the legislative coordinator at the California Department of General Services from 2008 to 2010 where she worked on real estate issues including alternative public works delivery methods and then-Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposal to sell high-valued State properties; and a legislative assistant at the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger from 2007 to 2008. She also worked in the Office of Assembly Member Rick Keene from 2004 to 2006. Melanie is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno with a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, and minor in Information Systems.
