Michael R. Tritz, Deputy Secretary, Audits and Performance Improvement Michael was appointed to his position when the Agency was created in July 2013, and is responsible for establishing and overseeing the implementation of policies related to audits, investigations and performance-based management throughout the Agency. He consults with the Secretary, Agency senior staff and department leadership on operational policy and process improvements, with an emphasis on ensuring clarity of focus on program outcomes and efficiency of operations. Further, he assists Agency management in the requisite biennial assessment of internal controls, and conducts ad hoc reviews, evaluations and risk assessments. Michael served in the same capacity for the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency since 2000, and previously served as Deputy Director of the Program Review Branch in the Employment Development Department, Deputy Executive Director in the Little Hoover Commission, and Senior Performance Auditor in the Office of the Auditor General. Michael earned an associate of arts degree in business at American River College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from California State University, Sacramento, and an M.B.A. from National University.
